How to Launch a New Product on Amazon: The Complete Playbook

By Scott Nguyen · Jan 22, 2025 · 1 min read

Launching a new product on Amazon is not "list it and wait." The algorithm rewards products that generate early sales velocity, reviews, and engagement. Here's the sequence that works.

Pre-Launch: Build the Foundation

Before your first unit arrives at FBA, your listing should be fully optimized — main image, all 7 image slots filled, optimized title and bullets, A+ content drafted, backend keywords populated. You only get one chance at the algorithm's attention during launch.

Day 1–14: Drive Velocity

Early sales velocity signals to Amazon that your product deserves visibility. Use a combination of PPC, external traffic (email list, social), and promotional pricing to drive initial sales. The goal is not margin in week one — it's ranking.

Day 14–30: Build Reviews

Enrol in Vine for your first reviews if eligible. Use the Request a Review button on every order. Early reviews establish credibility and improve conversion rate, which in turn improves your organic ranking.

Day 30–90: Optimize and Scale

Once you have baseline data — conversion rate, click-through rate, which keywords are driving sales — start optimizing. Shift PPC budget toward the highest-converting search terms. Adjust pricing based on Buy Box performance. Refine your listing based on customer questions and reviews.

The fix: Build a launch calendar with specific milestones for listing optimization, inventory arrival, PPC launch, and review generation. Treat it as a project, not a listing.
