How to Price Your Products on Amazon Without a Race to the Bottom

By Scott Nguyen · Apr 16, 2025 · 1 min read

Pricing on Amazon feels like a trap. Most sellers end up in a race to the bottom that benefits no one. There's a better way.

Price Is Not the Only Buy Box Factor

Fulfillment method, seller rating, shipping speed, and inventory depth all factor into the Buy Box. A seller with slightly higher price but FBA and 99% rating often beats a cheaper seller with variable lead times.

Know Your Floor

Calculate your landed cost, FBA fees, referral fee, and advertising cost of sale. Your floor is that number plus minimum acceptable margin. Never price below your floor.

Value Differentiation Earns Pricing Power

Better images, stronger A+ content, more reviews, and a clearer value proposition allow you to hold a higher price point. Build trust and you earn pricing power.

The fix: Calculate your true unit cost. Set a hard floor in your repricer. Any SKU priced below floor gets repriced immediately.
