How to Sell on eBay Canada: Is It Still Worth It?
eBay is often dismissed as a declining marketplace. For specific categories — used goods, collectibles, parts and accessories, niche product lines — eBay Canada remains a significant and profitable channel.
Where eBay Still Wins
eBay's auction format and Best Offer functionality give it an advantage where price negotiation and unique item discovery matter. Used electronics, vintage items, automotive parts, and sporting goods are categories where eBay buyer intent often exceeds Amazon's.
eBay's Fee Structure
eBay charges a Final Value Fee of 12–15% for most categories on the total sale amount including shipping. Promoted Listings add another 2–5%. Combined, the total take rate is similar to Amazon's for most categories.
Inventory Management Integration
If selling on multiple channels, ensure your inventory management system integrates with eBay to prevent overselling. Most multi-channel inventory tools include eBay integration as standard.
The fix: Search for your top 20 SKUs by margin on eBay.ca. If buyer demand is evident and pricing supports your margin, a 30-day eBay pilot with those SKUs will tell you more than any amount of research.
